This website is about building community. It is about enabling us to present an accurate story, from our point-of-view. It is about our truth. And with the truth, a reconciliation, both between all people, and reconciliation with the truthful history of colonization. 

Membership in this site is for the People of the Kawacatoose First Nation. Anonymous web visitors are welcome to browse, but kawacatoose.com is intended as a safe place for Kawacatoose First Nation People.

Members and Membership

Free for Kawacatoose First Nation members, with your proof of membership, treaty card, family name, etc. No 'self-identfied' members if you're unregistered, unless you have a brother or sister who is a member, or other way to trace your belonging.

• build Kawacatoose First Nation sovereignty

Build your own webpages

Say you want to share your family history or sell something online, you can write your own webpages to display your photos and videos, or to promote your products. You can build folders to organize your pages into a meaningful hierarchy, and publish a web-brochure of your own, under your user name, from your folder here in kawacatoose.com.

Promote Special Events

Let the community know about things like Pow Wow's, feasts, yard sales, community garden harvest, or Thanksgiving Hampers. The calendar is linked to webpages with information on upcoming events hosted by members of the community. After the event the post automatically expires and is no longer presented as an upcoming event.

Publish News Articles

Timely information, or announcements of interest to members only, or the general public on the world-wide web.

Group Permissions

Pages and other content can be shared with the general public,  or a specific group of members only.

Moderated

Content and comments are moderated. The existing social network publishes posts of Residential School Denialism, Denialism products from racist advertisers, political disinformation, and comments promoting hatred at Indigenous Peoples,  under the guise of "free speech." There is none of this allowed here. kawacatoose.com is child-friendly by design. Profanity, defamation, name-calling, or any other anti-social behaviours are not tolerated. kawacatoose.com is about building a positive space.

Future expansion of Kawacatoose Kommunity

Chief and Council

A private area for the Band Council to communicate only with members, or the general public. facebook is not a safe space for us. We need to move our conversations into a private lounge. Nor does the social network provide a space where transparency isn't vulnerable to hate-filled, racist comments.

Asinw-Kisik Education Campus

Students are able to upload and share documents privately with only their teacher, for submission of assignments and return feedback from the teacher. This means student groups can collaborate on online projects.

Massive Open Online Courses or user-pay courses can be offered, specifically tailored to a Treaty audience.
